Position Purpose

Under the supervision of the Chief Information Officer, the incumbent will assist with medical simulation equipment and clinical skills set-up, take-down, use, and maintenance, including PCs, Audio/Video, with other associated equipment. Other duties will include providing technical support for simulation manikins, software, task trainers and all associated equipment.  Provide direct support to faculty and/or outside affiliates for simulation or skill sessions, collaborate with potential users to ensure safe and effective use of equipment, set-up equipment for simulation sessions, operate simulators and equipment during sessions, and provide feedback to faculty and clinical skills staff as needed.

Essential Functions

Simulation and Clinical Skills

  • Collaborates with IITS and Clinical Skills departments to support doctoral students as well as other healthcare students and professionals to achieve clinical learning, in a simulated patient care environment.
  • Assists faculty in the development, testing and implementation of detailed clinically based scenarios within Sim Capture.
  • Responsible for proper setup, reset, operation, breakdown, storage and technical support of simulation system, laptops, and manikins.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance checks and services of simulation equipment while adhering to all established protocols.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Sim Capture & Laerdal simulation equipment, supplies, media, computers, and materials related to simulation learning.
  • Provide support and assistance to clinical skills director and senior-level staff during OSCE’s and exam room interactions with Standardized Patients.


Technical Support

  • Collaborates with IITS Network and Security team to identify and isolate simulation, system, and network-related issues.
  • Works with B-Line Sim Capture and other vendors to report system issues and follow up on ticket resolutions.
  • Ability to install software updates on laptops and maintain manikin components as directed by manufacturer support.
  • Provides technical operational support for all systems and equipment related to simulation and exam rooms.
  • Document technical processes and support needed for simulations.
  • Train other IITS members on setup instructions for simulations and clinical skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Practical knowledge of computers and information systems.
  • Ability to learn and run technically focused simulation technology.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working in a medical school in either a technical position or simulation role.
  • Experience using/working with B-Line, Sim Capture, or other simulation management software.
