Position Purpose

Will work with the Associate Dean for Basic Research (ADBR) to provide administrative support to Research Office activities, programs, and committees

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate scheduling, minutes taking, and records keeping for research-related committees (e.g., Research committee, IRB, IBC) and students' research programs (e, g., MD scholar program) and ensure follow-up with action items.
  • Records keeping for the student's research projects (students, projects, and progress) in the basic biomedical research lab, SSRP, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate and oversee the scheduling and the organization of the Research Seminar Series, Research Symposium, and other research activities.
  • Collect and maintain a database with faculty and students’ scholarly activities for the purposes of accreditation and strategic plan monitoring.
  • Facilitate student's access to faculty for research projects and identify mentors.
  • Help with processing the reimbursement of the research-related approved costs for faculty and students.
  • Help with maintaining the research website and related research handouts updated and current.
  • Serve as IRB coordinator:
    • Ensure that IRB members are trained and educated with the federal and state regulations governing human subject research protection.
    • Provide support with CUSM IRB application process and subsequent review of submissions.
    • Pre-review IRB application submissions to ensure they are complete.
    • Record keeping of the IRB activities and preparing correspondence to investigators, study sponsors, and regulatory agencies.
    • Prepare IRB meeting agendas, minutes, and meeting materials for distribution to IRB members
  • Other duties will be assigned as needed.

 

Job Requirements – Minimum Qualifications Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated analytical skills to collect, interpret, organize, and present programmatic data.
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with interdisciplinary professionals and teams of scientists, educators, students, and administrators.
  • Well organized, high energy, effective at multi-tasking and planning, self-motivated.
  • Strong recordkeeping, interpersonal, and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Knowledge of basic information systems (Word, Excel, Adobe, and other database applications.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Health Sciences, Social sciences or related field.
  • Knowledge of basic information systems (Word, Excel, Adobe, and other database applications.
  • Strong recordkeeping, interpersonal, and communication (verbal and written) skills

 

Desirable Qualifications

  •  A minimum of 1-2 years of experience directly related to human subject research federal regulations and guidelines or experience with IRB will be desired.
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with interdisciplinary professionals and teams of scientists, educators, students, and administrators.
  • Well organized, high energy, effective at multi-tasking and planning, self-motivated.
